Mad Dogs!

This is Mad Dog.
Pattern from the book softies which I have had for some years and is very well used.
I often turn to it if I want to make a present.

This chap was made from recycled jeans and ..

a recycled shirt for the reverse.

And the second mad dog is Tally.
She is the reason for the name of my blog.

We set off for a walk this morning across the fields in the sunshine..

Can you see the little dots on the horizon, well...

on closer inspection they were a flock of Canada Geese.

Tally was fairly unimpressed and carried on her path..

but the geese decided they weren't hanging around in a field with a 'mad dog'.

It was a beautiful sight.

Meet Jock

Jock. He is a little softy about 4" tall with a pocket on the back in which I can tuck a note.

Jock is a little softy about 4" tall.
He has a pocket on the back of him that I intend to put some money in before he is given as a present.
I have made these before here , and I first saw the idea over at Molly Chicken  where she made a hedgehog in a similar way.
It kind of makes giving teenagers money a bit more exciting (well it does for me anyway)!

Jock and his favourite tipple (which won't be included in the present)!!

Happy weekend.

A Beetle Bug in the Asters

Beetle bug in the Asters. Made from pattern in book called 'Softies' .

This is Bert,  a 'beetle bug' from the book 'Softies' which I have mentioned before.
It is a great book for soft toy patterns and this is the 7th type of toy pattern that I have made from the book now.
The pattern was easy to trace and the intructions simple to follow and he took less than an episode of 'New Tricks' on the iplayer to make. The head is blanket, the body one of my favourite Kaffe Fassett fabrics, and the legs are a recycled shirt. He looks particularly at home in the Asters which are in full bloom.

Liberated sampler- still going!

I am still going with the liberated sampler and have now run out of the 'Ten Little Things' fabric. It is looking a bit white at the moment so I think I will try and introduce some colour with the quilting. I wondered about big colourful running stitches like the Kantha quilts from India. Will keep you posted.
