<br />
Not much sewing or time to blog here recently but managed to finish these little brooches<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/28798788798/in/photostream/" title="Hooky- WIP"><img alt="Hooky- WIP" height="360" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1757/28798788798_88c45c52d5.jpg" width="480" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
and have started another set of crochet squares probably heading for a blanket of some sort.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/42623427972/in/photostream/" title="Whinnie"><img alt="Whinnie" height="360" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1741/42623427972_27d65def7b.jpg" width="480" /></a><br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
Lack of crafting due to this little thing- Whinnie - who is keeping us all busy.<br />

Tally is doing really well but is a bit tired- me too!!

<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>I love the colourful work of <a href="http://www.suespargo.com/index.php">Sue Spargo</a> and have a beautiful 2016 Calendar which is still on the wall two years later as I can't bear to take it down. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Looking for some hand stitching to do while watching TV now that I have finished the blanket,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been playing with some circles of blanket and old jumpers...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/26907997457/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="WIP- needle case"><img alt="WIP- needle case" height="358" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/911/26907997457_00cd530734.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Some of the stitches are fairly straight forward but I also found a clip <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lELbw0Obggo">here</a> showing a couple of the more complicated ones. <br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/26907996877/in/photostream/" title="WIP- needle case"><img alt="WIP- needle case" height="358" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/825/26907996877_94131ac417.jpg" width="480" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have my eye on her <a href="http://www.suespargo.com/store-detail.php?ID=4467">book of stitches</a> and am planning to drop some hints around my birthday!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Can't seem to find it anywhere in the UK so it will need to come a long way. <br />
<br />
I think this may end up as a needle case as she uses various different needles which she explains in the videos and I will need somewhere to keep them all safely out of harms way. This is particularly important as we are getting a new family member this week in the form of a small chocolate puppy-<br />
a friend for Tally (we hope!!). </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/40991212372/in/dateposted/" title="Ripple Blanket"><img alt="Ripple Blanket" height="360" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/804/40991212372_ee7e9076f1.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been working slowly on this ripple blanket for some months now. It was started back in <br />
June 2017 as a way to use up various left overs, but adding in two shades of grey- grey and graphite.<br />
All the yarns are double knit special by Stylecraft. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the pattern I used the brilliant "Ripple Blanket Know-how" by Lucy from Attic 24 found <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/ripple-blanket-know-how.html">here.</a> <br />
Thank you Lucy.<br />
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34989569410/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="WIP"><img alt="WIP" height="360" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4196/34989569410_44be530fd8.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It has been one of those projects that has just slowly evolved as time allowed and </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
in between other makes. Perfect, especially over the winter, to pick up while watching a bit of TV or waiting in the car while doing taxi duty. You know the sort of thing. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally last week, I decided it was big enough and finished it off with a couple of rows of border.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/39224135030/in/dateposted/" title="Ripple Blanket"><img alt="Ripple Blanket" height="466" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/811/39224135030_3365ff72ee.jpg" width="350" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The sun came out yesterday to give me the chance of a photo or two and it is now in full use as our eldest is back from University for the Easter break, full of cold and in need of some TLC. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What better way to recuperate than under a crochet blanket on the sofa at home!!<br />

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/39922221094/in/dateposted/" title="Duffle coat- Pattern Burda 6987"><img alt="Duffle coat- Pattern Burda 6987" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4650/39922221094_a5df0742cd.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I finally got some pictures to show you my first attempt at making a coat. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is a Burda style 6987 and the fabric was a navy wool mix I think, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
bought in the sale at Exeter Fabric Centre. <br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/39922222114/in/dateposted/" title="Duffle coat- Pattern Burda 6987"><img alt="Duffle coat- Pattern Burda 6987" height="500" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4648/39922222114_85b26e04f9.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wanted a loose fitting Duffle that I can sling over big jumpers and this is great. Made up in a size 14 (I am usually a 12) just to make sure it was roomy enough. Just two buttons or toggles and no button holes on this pattern. Fairly straight forward to cut out but I found it quite tricky to follow the instructions in places especially around the hood when sewing it up. Despite this I would definitely make it again when it wears out. <br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/40590454912/in/dateposted/" title="Duffle coat- Pattern Burda 6987"><img alt="Duffle coat- Pattern Burda 6987" height="500" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4662/40590454912_c81a56d726.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Big hood with enough space for a wooly hat underneath for the weather we have been having recently. </div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/39770652224/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Coat pattern: Burda 6987"><img alt="Coat pattern: Burda 6987" height="320" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4711/39770652224_f566fc8fb3.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
The lining covers up a multitude of seams and neatens it all off. I decided to use a polyester lining material in the sleeves, but a patterned poly cotton to line the main body of the coat. This means I can get my arms in and out more easily but still have the pretty lining.</td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"> </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/40590457282/in/dateposted/" title="Duffle coat- Pattern Burda 6987"><img alt="Duffle coat- Pattern Burda 6987" height="500" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4702/40590457282_3737259e68.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The coat can be worn open in a V to the waist fastening or buttoned up like this to keep out the cold. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think I have worn it nearly every day since it was finished two weeks ago so that says it all really. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This quilt started life as a soft linen shirt given to me for recycling. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The shirt belonged to a friend of a friend who had sadly passed away, but the person who gave it to me shares my love of making things and recycling and so I pondered on what best to do with it. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I love linen. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The softness when it has been washed may times, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
the crisp lines after pressing and the way it moves and crinkles. <br />

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/38092836201/in/dateposted/" title="Wine skirt"><img alt="Wine skirt" height="358" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4486/38092836201_2957441b38.jpg" width="480" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finished this one last week. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's a simple A line skirt made from some thick burgundy linen </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
which was in the remnant bucket in the lovely <a href="http://www.stonefabrics.co.uk/" target="_blank">Stone Fabrics.</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was a close shave getting the pattern out of the odd shaped remnants </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and I had a seam centre front and back to make it fit. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Since the <a href="http://textiletally.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/hadley-top-number-one.html" target="_blank">Hadley Top</a> I am a fan of top stitched seams and used them here to finish the centre seams. </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/26316279299/in/dateposted/" title="Wine skirt"><img alt="Wine skirt" height="299" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4454/26316279299_c41dc711e6.jpg" width="339" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This isn't really a great picture of the skirt as it doesn't do justice to the colour somehow </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
but you get the gist. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And just take a peep at the facing which I edged with some spare liberty bias </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
left over from another project. I love it when a little piece of leftovers</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
is a perfect match for what you need. </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also just had to share these beautiful Scabious flowers </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
which I got from a local roadside stall this afternoon and couldn't resist. </div>

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/36922559754/in/dateposted/" title="Hadley Top"><img alt="Hadley Top" height="500" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4505/36922559754_94b55ccc2a.jpg" width="326" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been admiring all the Hadley Tops on Pinterest and Instagram since it came out and took the leap last week, printing out the pages of pattern. The instant access of digital patterns is great and I even quite like the job of cutting and sticking all the A4 sheets together a bit like a jigsaw<br />
- sad I know! </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/36922559094/in/dateposted/" title="Hadley Top"><img alt="Hadley Top" height="399" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4480/36922559094_001bd5d601.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is the latest from <a href="https://grainlinestudio.com/" target="_blank">Grainline Studio</a>. It comes with great instructions and <br />
there are even tutorials over on her blog if you need extra help. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/36962053943/in/dateposted/" title="Hadley Top"><img alt="Hadley Top" height="400" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4485/36962053943_c18b105fb9.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One of my favourite things about this pattern is the dipped hemline at the back <br />
which gives it a lovely shape. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This fabric is a soft, indigo dyed cotton and I used a fine linen for the facings to give it extra shape. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/36962054593/in/photostream/" title="Hadley Top"><img alt="Hadley Top" height="500" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4502/36962054593_6670248582.jpg" width="374" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sorry about the indoor photos but the weather is awful here today and I couldn't wait to share it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hadley Top number 2 is already cut out from some linen I had in my stash...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have any of you tried any Hadley's? </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>Textile-tallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13889303544825793932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6823594553078335131.post-22517243917085892762017-09-23T09:20:00.000-07:002017-09-23T09:20:51.194-07:00Eclectic Blue<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/37214097206/in/dateposted/" title="True blue cushion"><img alt="True blue cushion" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4332/37214097206_82d93d4719.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just finished and now hoping to get it in the post ASAP.<br />
As I said the cushion is for my niece and the colour was based on a quillow made for her by my Mum. I cheekily asked for the leftovers and set to work adding in scraps of linen from my stash. Linen is a favourite for making clothes and there are always bits left over from cutting out patterns so I have quite a collection and luckily much of it is blue! <br />
<br />
After piecing together the front, I quilted it onto a piece of cotton wadding. <br />
There was no great plan so it was very much make it up as you go along... </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/37214096406/in/dateposted/" title="WIP"><img alt="WIP" height="360" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4371/37214096406_53e7c0a75a.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As the nights are drawing in, the machine quilting was mainly done in artificial light </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/37261137211/in/dateposted/" title="WIP"><img alt="WIP" height="360" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4419/37261137211_8ba1995bee.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
but I managed to find some daylight hours to add in some hand quilting..</div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/37261135491/in/dateposted/" title="True blue cushion"><img alt="True blue cushion" height="360" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4409/37261135491_e896054b9d.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Can't believe the cheek of this little fellow who decided to take a look! </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/37214096656/in/dateposted/" title="True blue cushion"><img alt="True blue cushion" height="360" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4501/37214096656_e872e42a48.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The blue shirt used for the reverse of the cushion actually came from my brother..her Dad.. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/37214097426/in/dateposted/" title="True blue cushion"><img alt="True blue cushion" height="360" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4452/37214097426_79f32c66eb.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
So all in all it was a bit of an eclectic mix, <br />
with a big dash of love and good luck wishes in there too. <br />
xx</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Three lavender bags smelling wonderful with the first of this years lavender. The smell has been filling my little roof space but they are packaged up now, ready as a gift for a friend. <br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here they are resting on my other work in progress..<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
the start of a cushion cover for a niece who is off to Uni this week. I am a bit behind really so I have given her the cushion pad to take with her and the cover will be following in the post!<br />
I don't know about you but making a present like this is my way of thinking about her as she sets off on a new venture. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And finally this tiny lavender bag/key ring. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You may remember me making a <a href="http://textiletally.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/carried-away-with-key-fobs.html" target="_blank">bunch of these</a> last year and they have been more useful than I had anticipated so there will be a few more this year too. </div>

</div>

We have been away camping and I have done very little sewing over the last few weeks but did take my crochet blanket with us for a bit of relaxing crochet. It has been dragged about a bit and I keep finding bits of grass and undergrowth caught in the stitches but they are easily pulled out. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAAlnZpXbUfgsZ0B3OnVBDSPlUsaCS63fAWe7DYAcG3i3nPc9_EmZwP4gYNKXWzWsfwPvqSNqz1wctDPpT8CfOfZHqrfcZO2cP_CrJtkE_brI3DTtd2N0YDBo7e-jisb6rthgZrVMv7zmd/s1600/P1060634.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"> </a></div>

I am enjoying the bright summer colours mixed with the more gentle greys and this lovely ripple pattern is an old favourite. Lucy from Attic 24 has a really good pattern on her blog <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/neat-ripple-pattern.html" target="_blank">here.</a> </div>

The apples are starting to drop now and I have been picking them up ready to take to the apple man for pressing. Every year he says that it is getting too much for him and I just keep hoping that he will still be there next year. It is such a brilliant way to use the apples as there are only so many apple crumbles you can eat! The juice is pasteurised and keeps for ages- makes good Christmas gifts too. </div>

<br />
Photos not great sorry, but it is pouring down outside and I can't seem to coordinate time and sunshine at the moment. Anyway, the dress pattern is an old favourite which is a combination of two dresses from the Stylish Dress Book by Yoshiko Tsukiori- dresses I and S. <br />
My previous ones are <a href="http://textiletally.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/a-busy-week.html">here </a>and<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/15377112321/in/album-72157629570221282/"> here</a> if you want to take a peek, both linen. <br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/35588227265/in/dateposted/" title="Dress IS"><img alt="Dress IS" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4236/35588227265_7206484542.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
This time I made the pattern up slightly looser initially because the last one pulled a bit sometimes across the back. I then got the usually direct but often helpful feedback from child number one, who said it was a bit "sack-like"!! She was right I think, and I decided the best option, (not to mention the easiest one due to not having to take out the zip) was to try a couple of rows of shearing elastic across the back..<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34779230863/in/dateposted/" title="Dress IS"><img alt="Dress IS" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4288/34779230863_17c5a417e4.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
This is a technique I learnt while make a Washi Dress- <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/10023791425/in/pool-washidress/">seen here</a> - which is another favourite. The <a href="http://www.made-by-rae.com/washi/">Washi Dress</a> has 6 rows of shearing and the stretchiness of it makes it super comfortable. <br />
<br />
The fabric, mentioned in my last post, is Indigo Pond Life bought from Merchant and Mills. It is such a soft cotton and drapes well. I used a double thickness to line the bodice and a plain muslin to line the skirt.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/35458698501/in/dateposted/" title="Dress IS"><img alt="Dress IS" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4239/35458698501_77d14a2c20.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
All in all it has worked out ok which is a good job because the black one has finally worn out. <br />
xx<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />Textile-tallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13889303544825793932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6823594553078335131.post-58341764998899568042017-06-18T01:04:00.002-07:002017-06-18T01:04:48.729-07:00Sunshine and stars<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34989569710/in/dateposted/" title="WIP"><img alt="WIP" height="360" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4218/34989569710_5c890ccd50.jpg" width="480" /></a><br />
<br />
The ripple blanket is growing slowly, ideal for carrying round for a sneaky bit of hooky while waiting to pick up various people from various places, you know how it is. <br />
<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/35376476275/in/dateposted/" title="WIP"><img alt="WIP" height="480" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4261/35376476275_5462fc17eb.jpg" width="360" /></a><br />
<br />
The colours are still a bit of "make it up as you go along" but I find the regular bits of grey help to tie it all together. I didn't used to like grey that much as a colour to work with but maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have a slowly increasing number of grey hairs that I am trying to embrace!! <br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/35376477615/in/dateposted/" title="Apatched knee"><img alt="Apatched knee" height="360" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4285/35376477615_4125daf129.jpg" width="480" /></a><br />
<br />
This was just a very quick project finished out of necessity. My favourite jeans developed a hole and it may be stylish for the kids to have ripped jeans but I felt a bit of a pillock. I have been looking at some sewing ideas on Pinterest <a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/556968678902856432/">here,</a> and <a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/Aff07GgUMOCRJuSkcZjZBDGR0K2Awi_uJpE-IgROvBRYAcbhelqZde8/">here</a>, and thought I could try a bit out on the offending hole. <br />
<br />
<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/35376478005/in/dateposted/" title="New fabric"><img alt="New fabric" height="360" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4249/35376478005_790672b859.jpg" width="480" /></a><br />
<br />
This beauty arrived all wonderfully packaged from <a href="http://merchantandmills.com/product-category/cloth/cotton/">Merchant and Mills</a> a couple of weeks ago and I have finally decided it will be a dress. The fabric is Indigo Pond Life and is a really soft cotton. More to come on that one. <br />
<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/35246862591/in/dateposted/" title="WIP"><img alt="WIP" height="300" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4247/35246862591_f1a284ab6d.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
Why is it when you are trying to get a picture that there often seems to be a slight gust of wind just at the wrong moment..<br />
<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/35376479475/in/dateposted/" title="WIP"><img alt="WIP" height="360" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4286/35376479475_6f18810fcf.jpg" width="480" /></a><br />
<br />
That's better. Five little stars, another work in progress. Using linen recycled from a shirt and some Tilda fabric kindly bought for me for my birthday. Thanks Mum and Dad.<br />
<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/35246862161/in/dateposted/" title="Antirrhinums"><img alt="Antirrhinums" height="360" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4226/35246862161_51a67b575a.jpg" width="480" /></a><br />
<br />
And finally just had to mention these lovelies- last years antirrhinums which survived over winter and are just flowering their hearts out and making me smile. <br />

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34247051804/in/dateposted/" title="Dress E"><img alt="Dress E" height="480" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4269/34247051804_cf5c9ca016_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Just finished a new tunic. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The pattern was taken from the "Stylish Dress Book" by Yoshiko Tsukiori. I love the Japanese pattern books and spend hours looking at the pictures, trying to imagine the patterns made up in different fabrics. The blog "Make Something" written by Karyn is really helpful because she has made up a number of the patterns which she kindly shares. The dresses can look so different depending on the fabric and length chosen and Karyn has made things I wouldn't have tried from the book, but that end up looking completely different. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This is Dress E, made without sleeves, just binding the arm hole edges with bias strips cut from the dress fabric. The pleated front panel and gathers along the back make it a super comfy dress or tunic. And it's got pockets too, my Nan would have approved! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It's a very light weight and soft cotton, indigo dyed I think. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have made the pattern before in a linen cotton mix, with sleeves. Just to compare here it is ..</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
and here is a view of the back...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/15455148941/in/album-72157629570221282/" title="Blue linen dress"><img alt="Blue linen dress" height="640" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3936/15455148941_d53c6af147_z.jpg" width="414" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: left;">
On to other things...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34280487563/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cushion detail"><img alt="Cushion detail" height="300" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4232/34280487563_83ff009104_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This cushion was made using left over Moorland Blanket (<a href="http://textiletally.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/spring-and-things.html">more here</a>) yarn </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
and it is already in use on the sofa. It's a bit of a cheat if I am honest as I just sort of appliqued it on top of the old cushion front that had seen better days, reusing the back with a zippered opening. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Super quick and very lazy of me but sometimes a bit of a cheat is ok I think. </div>

<br />
I have been doing a crochet cushion cover using the left over bits of Moorland yarn from my blanket.<br />
It is good to have a slightly smaller project while I ponder on the next blanket. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
The peace above is surrounded by the scattered wisteria petals which along with the cherry blossom are making a sort of "spring snow" all over the garden. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The smell from the wisteria has been gorgeous this year and it is really starting to cover the pergola we built about 8 years ago. With hindsight I should have put a Clematis Montana or something in to spread more quickly while we waited but never mind. <br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It has been worth the wait.<br />
<br />
I was asked by a friend to come up with some fish ideas for a craft workshop type thing. They have to cover all abilities but not take too long. So far I have crochet fish, fish lavender bags, recycled jumper fish and lavender fish! <br />
If anyone else has any ideas I would be grateful if you could let me know?!<br />
I think pillows/cushions would take too long.<br />
Also it has to be hand sewing not machine which limits it a bit. </div>

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34282963555/in/dateposted/" title="Happy Tally"><img alt="Happy Tally" height="281" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2878/34282963555_0c93a46381.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a happy Tally.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another walk along the estuary on a beautiful sunny morning, plus some water and a lot of mud, topped off with a dash of drift wood, all equals one happy dog. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34125723332/in/dateposted/" title="Estuary"><img alt="Estuary" height="281" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2824/34125723332_37387cf8e1.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was a really quite chilly but the picture makes it look warm with that big expanse of blue sky<br />
and a few cotton wool clouds. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34125721832/in/dateposted/" title="drift wood"><img alt="drift wood" height="281" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4190/34125721832_8a109c7fa2.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I love the light at this time of year and can almost feel myself waking up as the days get longer.<br />
It is definitely my favourite time of year. <br />
<script async="" charset="ut<a data-flickr-embed=" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34125723332/in/photostream/" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" title="Estuary" true=""><img src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2824/34125723332_37387cf8e1.jpg" width="500" height="281" alt="Estuary"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On the making front, I have finally finished my <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/moorland-stripe-blanket.html">Moorland Blanket. </a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/moorland-stripe-blanket.html">Thanks again to Lucy from Attic 24 </a>for such a great pattern. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/34070704422/in/dateposted/" title="Finished Moorland Blanket"><img alt="Finished Moorland Blanket" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4179/34070704422_d8b61d7bc7.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think this may be my favourite blanket so far. The wave pattern of stitches makes such a close weave (if there is such a term in crochet!!) and the result is a really cosy blanket.<br />
And then there's the colours.. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33386025294/in/dateposted/" title="Moorland Blanket"><img alt="Moorland Blanket" height="281" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2896/33386025294_c4c927c05e.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Sky colours are not my usual choice but in combination with the rest I am a converted person. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33843688050/in/dateposted/" title="Moorland Blanket"><img alt="Moorland Blanket" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2886/33843688050_0b3b29b737.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's better. The right way up. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I would have had a lovely picture of this held out carefully by child number 1, but the risk of using teenagers to do that sort of job is that they use the opportunity to hold up various fingers as well as the blanket!!! And their daft mother doesn't see until she uploads the photo. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So this 'draped in the tree' version will just have to do. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33417070643/in/dateposted/" title="I think it's Lithodora!"><img alt="I think it's Lithodora!" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4160/33417070643_da805f97ef.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And finally a garden catch up. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This blue is so vivid. I think the plant is Lithodora but don't hold me to that. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33417071903/in/dateposted/" title="Marguerite daisy"><img alt="Marguerite daisy" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4190/33417071903_08fef7daf4.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A patch of marguerite daisies that all came from one tiny cutting given to me by a friend about 6 or 7 years ago. I just keep taking more cuttings and planting more because they are so easy to do and look after themselves - my sort of plant. <br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And its apple blossom time again.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh, and new <a href="http://textiletally.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/peg-bag-tutorial-as-promised.html">peg bag</a> time...<br />
</div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><div style="text-align: center;">

I hope spring is springing with you too. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The little bit of crochet in the last post turned into this - an Easter yarnbomb. <br />
</div>

<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The background is the same pattern used for the Moorland blanket by <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/moorland-stripe-blanket.html">Lucy of Attic 24 found here</a> but using any scraps of green and brown that I had left over from various projects.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The daffodils are also a free pattern on Lucy's blog <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/crochet-daffodil.html">found here.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The little primula flowers were found <a href="http://byhelen.typepad.co.uk/by-helen/2013/04/crochet-flower-for-april-primula-primrose.html">here.</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My Moorland blanket is nearly there now, just on the border <br />
and will share the finished blanket soon I hope. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
We have just returned from a lovely week in the Brecon beacons, walking in the mountains..</div>

and also taking Tally along the gentler Monmouthshire and Brecon canal..<br />

There hasn't been too much sewing going on but I did manage to finish this <br />
dragonfly skirt for work.. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This photo doesn't do justice to the lovely indigo dyed cotton fabric </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
which I found on a trip to Totnes in a great fabric shop called <a href="http://www.stonefabrics.co.uk/">Stone Fabrics</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I will try and get some better pictures when I have time!</div>

Tally, our Labrador, is 12 this year and starting to slow up. She is getting more fussy about her walks and is most definitely bored of going on the same old loops from our house. If you are lucky, she will follow you out of the garden and down the road but she stops and sniffs at every opportunity and it takes half an hour to go 100 meters! <br />
Sometimes she just sits down at the gate and looks at you as if to say,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"I'd rather not if that's ok". </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In desperation I got out a map of the local area and looked for some local footpaths that would be new and a bit more interesting. This morning we ventured over some fields..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33379314726/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="walking Tally"><img alt="walking Tally" height="258" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/674/33379314726_6119671391.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
down a slope..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/32577101714/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="walking Tally"><img alt="walking Tally" height="320" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3935/32577101714_7174233798.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
past some boats..</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/32577102964/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="walking Tally"><img alt="walking Tally" height="258" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3683/32577102964_64cb2295b4.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and ended up by an estuary..</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33291494521/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="walking Tally"><img alt="walking Tally" height="468" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/595/33291494521_457c4ba5f1.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and hey presto....happy Tally. </div>
<br />

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
In the process we are finding some lovely new walks and seeing parts of the countryside that we would never have explored like this without her.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
My sewing is a bit thin on the ground at the moment, I cant seem to decide what next. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's not really a problem as there is plenty to do in the garden. I have a plan for this little bunch of willow canes..</div>
<br />

<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
and the evenings are busy working slowly on my Moorland blanket..</div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And I have a plan for this little fellow..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/32998464461/in/dateposted/" title="key fobs"><img alt="key fobs" height="360" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3879/32998464461_3014424a5c.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I got a bit carried away with these little key fobs <br />
but even if they don't all find keys the mini lavender bags will hang very nicely <br />
off a coat hanger or two. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They are like a mini cushion stack</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and are brightening up yet another cloudy, blustery, wet day here in Cornwall...<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
as are these little beauties which are some tomato seedlings </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
potted on and sitting in the widow.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Half are cherry toms and the others are Coeur de Boeuf <br />
which are the big gnarly looking ones you get in France. <br />
I got some seeds last year in a French supermarket and thought I would give them a go.<br />
They are going to need a heck of a lot more sunshine than they are getting at the moment though to stand a chance of producing<a href="http://mexicocooks.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c571453ef01b7c744f68e970b-320wi"> these.</a> </div>

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33071921405/in/dateposted/" title="WIP"><img alt="WIP" height="360" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3738/33071921405_ba20cc3125.jpg" width="480" /></a> </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
My Moorland Blanket is coming along slowly and I am now on <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2017/01/moorland-blanket-cal-part-3.html">part 3.</a> <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I lam loving the pinky purpley heather colours </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and they go rather nicely with this little patch of wild cyclamen in the garden don't you think?</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33030388036/in/photostream/" title="WIP"><img alt="WIP" height="480" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/383/33030388036_84abf84be7.jpg" width="360" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The wavy pattern of this blanket produces a lovely dense feel to it which is nice and warm to sit under on these cold evenings. I can't wait to see what Lucy does for the edging because that is often my favourite bit. </div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have also been finishing up this quilt, started a while ago now and blogged <a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6823594553078335131#editor/target=post;postID=7682032290998231088;onPublishedMenu=template;onClosedMenu=template;postNum=11;src=postname">here.</a><br />
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33071933215/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Quilt"><img alt="Quilt" height="480" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2532/33071933215_5a64b60699.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The background is made up of 10" squares of recycled shirt fabrics. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The applique design was very much inspired by the quilt called Summer Chelsea by Pauline Smith in the book Kaffe Quilts Again. I have added some felt circles to the centre of some of the flowers and used embroidery to embellish them. The leaves are also felt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I really like the simplicity of Pauline's flower design and also the stripy stems. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33030388486/in/dateposted/" title="Quilt"><img alt="Quilt" height="480" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/338/33030388486_34194e237b.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is very blustery here today with lots of clouds scooting through at regular intervals, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
so I am afraid the photos aren't great but at least I had a helper </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
to hold it up when it kept blowing off the hedge! </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/33071932335/in/dateposted/" title="Patchwork key fob or just a very small lavender bag!"><img alt="Patchwork key fob or just a very small lavender bag!" height="400" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2693/33071932335_36aff34b0b.jpg" width="300" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And finally two little patchwork key fobs or mini lavender bags (just two and a half inch squares). </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My way of using up a few treasured scraps while watching a film.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wish you could smell them too.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Spring is springing here in Cornwall and we have had a few lovely days although it is damp and chilly today with no blue sky in sight so I am happily tucked up in my attic space and intending to have a whole day of undisturbed sewing...bliss!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The daffs are up but not many of them out yet but the snow drops are a real picture. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my latest Jolly Molly (or oven gloves to be boring) made from scraps as usual and my method described <a href="http://textiletally.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/jolly-molly-tutorial.html">here.</a> This time I have decided to try some proper heat resistant wadding for the filling instead of the usual bit of blanket to see if it makes any major difference...I will let you know!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The reverse was recycled shirt and jeans. I am really loving recycled denim at the moment and have spent far too long on Pinterest looking at things like<a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/320740804698134823/"> this</a> and <a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/225180050094459299/">this</a> and <a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/224124518932398802/">this.</a> </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And finally another cushion.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one is off to another retiring colleague as a gift. </div>

Just to share this one before it goes off to be delivered..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/32342904916/in/dateposted/" title="cushion"><img alt="cushion" height="375" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/527/32342904916_c48eeebfa5.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Luckily there was some lovely light this morning to catch it but I suddenly realised that the spot I had chosen was really a bit messy if you pan out..<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and the upturned yellow trug has holes in but I keep it to clean out the chickens!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, the cushion is finished on time and that's the main thing so I am off </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
to deliver it to where it needs to go.</div>

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/32152491542/in/dateposted/" title="WIP- cushion"><img alt="WIP- cushion" height="480" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/557/32152491542_ee2c1aabf1.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The weather has turned chilly here but no snow this far south so this weekend it's time to light the log burner and sit inside sewing and doing crochet. There have been a few sunny spells between the clouds to get some pictures of my making to share with you lot. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Above is the cushion started last week. The background is lots of scraps of linen and cotton cut into 3" squares and machined into rows. Next the leaves were stuck lightly with a spay on glue before zig zagging round each one to hold it in place. Finally I am adding some hand stitching to quilt the piece onto some cotton batting. Still a way to go and a deadline of this Friday as it is a present for my Aunty who is 80 this week!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As I mentioned last week, the inspiration came from<a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/556968678897085448/"> here,</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
but I couldn't find the article so this is just my version. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2017/01/moorland-blanket-cal-part-1.html">moorland blanket</a> is also growing but only slowly. I will get there and I am not in any rush but I am loving the pattern with it's gentle waves of colour. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/textiletally/32152490822/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Early daffs from the local roadside stall"><img alt="Early daffs from the local roadside stall" height="360" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/278/32152490822_4b9264402d.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just had to show you these beauties! I love to see the bright yellow of the early daffs on the local roadside stalls. The garden is miles behind with only a few shoots here and there but these yellow jewels catching the sunlight on the window sill remind me of what will be here soon.</div>
