Pink Present..

This was a present for a special little girl who likes pink.
a simple zippered pouch, lined with pink shirt,

and filled with a bunch of pink goodies.

And a pink scrunchie to match.

I love making presents with a colour theme.

More pressies

Another busy week and luckily a bit of time for sewing.

I have made quite a few grain bags over the years both as presents and for us too.
Sometimes I just sew a bag out of cord or other strong fabric, fill it with grain and sew it up.

At other times, usually if it's for someone else, I use this pattern from Sew Mama Sew, as I did for
this one. The only difference is that I use wheat instead of rice.

I also finished some pink bunting for a 'box of pink' ..

And finally a little neck purse..

Off to do some more.
Happy weekend.

Autumn is here

I have got some new shoes and I love them!

Naturalista shoes- Mary Jane's in Egeo

I have been looking at them for a while and pondering on the colour as they come in a wonderful rainbow of colours.
They are Naturalista Mary Jane's in Egeo.

I have also been playing with a book called Simple Modern Sewing..

New Book

It is really interesting to read and study (my sort of bedtime reading!). The patterns are all in the back but need tracing which was a challenge, and I forgot to check about the seam allowance at first, which isn't added.
I started with a top, well a combination of two of the tops really, made from a recycled shirt.
I am quite pleased with the outcome and will definitely be trying some more when time allows.

I have also started on presents as I was given this lovely tartan fabric by Mum but I can't show the whole picture as the intended recipients might peek.

Presents in the making..

And finally, another purse using the Poppy Treffry technique, mentioned in my last two posts. Once you have sussed it, it is quick and very effective I think.

Sussed it!

The pattern mentioned in my last two posts from the Poppy Treffry book, Free and Easy Stitch Style.
This time I made a small purse as a present for a little chap.
I appliqued a bug and a bird from some Urban Zoologie fabric I got from Fabric Rehab a while ago now.
The bug is on the front..

 a birdie on the back..

Purse reverse!

and a little apple tucked under the flap..

Another small purse made using the Poppy Treffry technique.

And the chrysanthemums have come out.
I was given a small clump of these a couple of years ago and they are just a great colour at this time of year when most other things are over.

And the best bit is my little clump has grown and is nearly big enough to give a bit to someone else.

Escaped to the loft!

It's been busy around here lately but today I have had a lovely few hours catching up with Downton Abbey and sewing in my little bit of loft space.
I made a purse for a present.

Purse

I know that probably most people now make puses with concealed seams but even though I think I have mastered the technique I still prefer to do them like this because I find the zip just 'sits' better.
I had fun with the inner pocket but left the outside more plain.

The sweet peas are still flowering beautifully.

The sweet peas are still going!

There are some late antirrhinum doing their best

And the Hollyhock is sagging a bit with the rain.

I bought a Tilda book this week and am off to play with it now.
I'll share the results later.

Have a good weekend.

Leaving presents galore!

It has been a busy couple of weeks here with one thing and another.

My youngest is moving up to secondary school and there were alot of 'thank yous' to say. Instead of doing the sensible thing and going to buy a box of chocolates, I decided that they 'needed' to be hand made. And with only a week to go and three evenings out, that was a tall order. Does anyone else have these crazy ideas that seem good at the time?
Thankfully when friday morning arrived there was a good pile ready...

A pile of presents

Unfortunately the rest of my little corner of roof space looked like a bomb had hit it!!

The mess left behind

There were 8 thank you key rings..

And now I'm off to tidy up the debris and think about what to make next.

Hellebores and Horner.

Hi.
I spent last weekend tidying my sewing space and it took longer than expected!
I am back now and it is a beautiful sunny spring day here.
I inherited quite a few hellebore plants in our garden and decided to put them all together under the Ash tree. They look so unexciting from above..

But underneath are hidden little gems..

I have just had a delivery of some fabric from Gone to Earth. It arrived very quickly and unfortunately the shirt pattern (ordered from another shop) took a bit longer so I am having to be patient.

The fabric is by Anna Maria Horner and I am really pleased with it.
Innocent crush First Impressions Fruit in cotton on the right, and Little Folks Voile Diamond mine Sky on the left. Shirts to follow!

I have jsut finished a couple of presents, another gathered clutch (pattern by Noodlehead here) although this one is a tad wonky but the recipient won't mind!

Slightly wonky gathered clutch!

And a glasses case with birds..

Happy weekend.
