Finally Finished

Ripple Blanket

I have been working slowly on this ripple blanket for some months now. It was started back in
June 2017 as a way to use up various left overs, but adding in two shades of grey- grey and graphite.
All the yarns are double knit special by Stylecraft.

For the pattern I used the brilliant "Ripple Blanket Know-how" by Lucy from Attic 24 found here.
Thank you Lucy.

WIP

It has been one of those projects that has just slowly evolved as time allowed and
in between other makes. Perfect, especially over the winter, to pick up while watching a bit of TV or waiting in the car while doing taxi duty. You know the sort of thing.

Finally last week, I decided it was big enough and finished it off with a couple of rows of border.

The sun came out yesterday to give me the chance of a photo or two and it is now in full use as our eldest is back from University for the Easter break, full of cold and in need of some TLC.
What better way to recuperate than under a crochet blanket on the sofa at home!!

Eek mice!!

I went on a short trip to London this week for work but spent the three hour train journey happily sitting doing crochet!
I have always loved the beautiful wreaths made by Lucy at Attic24 and was planning to have a go at a Christmas one last year but it was one of those things that needed far more time than I had anticipated so it has turned into a 2 year project.

WIP- christmas wreath base.

Thankfully this time I have a head start as the main wreath has already been covered so its just the fun bits and bobs to do.

I started by making some "jolly holly" the pattern for these is here at Attic24.

I have also made a couple of weeny pompoms but will need more of these
 to make enough holly berries.

I found these absolutely gorgeous mice on Pinterest.
There is a free pattern on a blog called LucyRavencar-Crochet Creatures found here.
This is a new blog for me and I will certainly be going back for a better look.

two little mice

I found the first mouse a bit of a nightmare to be honest
but I have never done any amigurumi so it was all very new.
The most helpful bit of advice was to mark the beginning of each round
and I used a little safety pin for this.
The wreath is still very much a work in progress but there should hopefully be plenty of time to get it finished this year and on the door!

A quick fix of sewing finished this little cushion which I am now sitting on..

And the other finish up has been the flower garden blanket...

Flower garden blanket

I started this back in May and the flower block pattern was in an issue of Making Magazine described here.

After completing the central panel I decided to do a big border.
It's funny how sometimes the unplanned bit turns out to be your favourite, do you find that?

The edging is again one from Lucy at Attic24 and the tutorial is here.
She used it to edge her Cosy Blanket which I made last year and I love the way the edging just gives it a bit of structure holding the blanket flatter somehow.

I
This blanket is destined for the camper but is in use on the sofa at the moment and I can't see it going anywhere else before spring.

I hope that you have had time for some crafting too.

Spring Sunshine

Spring is definitely springing down here in Cornwall. The sunshine today is just beautiful and great for photos which is handy because I finished my Cosy Blanket last night!

I just love it. Thank you to Lucy for the pattern and colour choices which are what makes it.

I followed the pattern to the letter and the only change was a different colour choice in the border so that it goes well on our green sofa.

I used grape (top and bottom) and pale rose (sides) for round 1 of the border, Claret for round 2, Khaki for round 3, and finally Lime for round 4.

This has to be my favourite blanket and crochet experience so far. It is so snuggly to sit under and I am already feeling a bit lost without it and wondering if maybe a second would be too much!!
Maybe a different colour combination but that would be risky! Or maybe same colours and a different pattern, now there's a thought...

The light was so tempting this morning that after dropping the kids to school I felt the urge to ignore all the jobs that needed doing and head for the hills.

This is the cheese ring on Bodmin Moor which is where I found myself heading. It was so early that there was still  mist in the air and no one else in sight.

As the mist cleared the sky was clear blue...

Just one more Tor wouldn't hurt surely?!
Sharp Tor..

The views were fantastic and my companion was very happy.
This, by the way, is Tally. Aged 9 and the reason for the name of this blog.

I really must go and do some jobs now but they are no worse for the slight delay.
And tomorrow there is rain forecast and I have to go to work.

I hope that you were able to enjoy some sunshine too.
