A basket of scraps and a worn out pair of trousers!

I showed you some blocks I started a while back, well here is the finished miniquilt.

Scrap buster and recycled trousers

It is made entirely from scraps from here

My basket of scraps

along with a worn out pair of linen trousers that I loved.
The back is recycled shirt.
And the daffodils are out in the garden.

I have also been busy making some jarmies for my daughter.
Jarmies

I found this old pattern that I made myself a pair of trousers from 16 years ago!

An old pattern used to make the pyjama bottoms

I bought some brushed cotton, one and a half metres per pair, and they came together in no time.
I added two hidden hearts in each pair 'cos I am an embarassing mum!!

Happy weekend.

Sneaky peek revealed..

You may remember I showed you a peek at this..

Sneeky peek-more later

That was the back of a cushion made as a present.
Well I can now show you the whole cushion..

Handmade cushion

I was trying out some more of the techniques from the book by Gwen Marston called Liberated Quiltmaking II mentioned here. The triangles are liberated wild geese and the square a liberated log cabin.
The patterned material is a Kaffe Fassett design and the plains are just a mixture I had in my stash.
It was a good job I took a picture last week as it is tipping it down right now and also my camera is broken!
Boo hoo.
Happy weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day.

I found this lovely monster card tutorial on a search for card inspiration,
and came up with my own version..

Valentine's card

'I may be a bit of a monster sometimes but I love you'.

Have a good day.

New fabric

Time to sew not shop!

A basket of scraps and an old pair of trousers!

The start of a scrap buster

I decided it was time to have a go at my scrap basket.
I also had a pair of worn out black linen trousers to recycle, and this is the result so far.
Not sure where it will end up but will let you know.

Cushion with circular quilting

The circular quilting from last week has become a cushion. It was destined for the TV room but has got no further than my son's bedroom!

The back was made from a shirt that I mentioned here.
I like shirts for cushion backs as I don't even have to make button holes and sew on the buttons.

Have a good week.

Circular quilting, a new one on me.

I found this wonderful quilt made with scraps over at  Pippa Patchwork and just loved the circular quilting on it.
So I put together a few squares for a cushion and had a go...

circular quilting in the log pile

Luckily despite the cold, the sun has been gorgeous today and I got a picture on the wood pile (or what's left of it!) this evening  .
It was such fun to do just chugging round and round, the new machine purring away beautifully. I researched to find a tutorial but couldn't find much, so I attached the walking foot and made it up as I went along.
The back is nearly as nice as the front..

I also finished another purse/pencil case for a friend ..

purse/pencilcase

It has a cute pocket inside as usual but as you can see the seams are most definitely visible. I tried the concealed seams method first and ended up unpicking it as I have real trouble getting the zips to 'sit' neatly when I do it this way.

The tutorial over here makes it look so easy.

Does anyone have any tips that would help?

I am still using my first batch of labels. They are plain name tags printed in red on a white background.

Happy sewing.
